Maybe a Setback is a Stepback

When a roadblock stops me in my tracks,
I expect it to prevent me from going forward down my busy, inevitable path.
When I have a setback, I don’t know if it is going to be big or small, short or long. Will it feel like forever or is it just a glitch, hardly worth mentioning?

In truth, I find I am forced to step back and take a look at the obtruction from a different perspective. I might look for ways under, over or around.
Maybe there is a totally different road to take.
Maybe this barrier is a bridge.

My life has had a few physical, emotional, and spiritual setbacks. Yet without them,
how would I measure my life?
Through it all the sun shines, the moon rises;
Waves go in and out, in and out.
Tides rise and fall.
Through it all, I spin with the earth.
Since now is gone forever, forward is all we have.
I hereby rename setbacks...
            “C’est la vie.”
