Peony Bright

this photo was taken by Clyde Horn in Nancy's garden spring 2011

Come with me my cruel comrade,
Make not a single solitary sound.
Tread lightly, twixt the twisted tendrils
Of a frightening future.
You abhor relinquishing control to me.
You pull relentlessly against my lead
But my heart is stronger than yours.
Where you have anger, I have courage.
You have stubborn by the tail,
I am a flexible platinum coil.

Unbelievable sunshine whispers
A quiet tune
In my ear when
You reach for me.
As the notes begin to form
they change into
the absolute
face of beauty
the bizarre beauty of
unexpected bliss.

Just believe.
Expect to see the exceptional.
Know something you find,
Something you stumble over
Will be for good
        or ill.
The only difference is in what
Remains in your memory
       over time.

Tangled trees build the
Forest where I live.
When you join me there
     we sit under
Lovely flowering
Dark branches.
We drink
deep of the quiet calm.
But
     Then the raven cracks
Our silence with
Promises broken
Promises that were not kept.
We will know then,
They were never
Really made.

Your poetry is blossoming right now! I'm enjoying the longer pieces.

I've visited this poem often lately and I have to say, its one of my all time favorites.
