Weeds Have it Easy

Birds and animals have to think about getting enough to eat for themselves and their families. They must look for the right mate and build a home. They have to watch out for predators and teach their young to do the same. Birds and animals are very busy and then they die.

Human beings have all that and more. They invent and philosophize, write stories and songs. They pass on their history to the next generation. They believe in themselves and convince others. They have the stupendous opposable thumb. With all this they suffer doubt, depression. They enjoy sunrises and sigh at the fragrance of baking bread. Precious humans are very busy and then they die.

Weeds grow, they are judged and then they die.

After getting a small corner of the garden planted with peas yesterday, I would have to argue that weeds are very busy too! :-)
